Madliena Lodge is located on a hilltop commanding sea views, just a short hop from the northwest of St Julian’s. With generous car parking facilities, it offers a relaxed ambience and an attractive bar area that can comfortably accommodate up to 70 for bespoke private functions. It also has a main restaurant area merged seamlessly into the original old building where fireside and balcony seats are in demand during the winter months. In the summer, diners enjoy a substantial outdoor terrace area. Managed by Miguel and his enthusiastic and professional young team, Madliena Lodge delivers a refreshing and original vision of gastronomic quality and experience to its guests.
The exciting range of dishes tempts the palate and does not disappoint. Starters includes beetroot variations with truffle and a goat’s cheese fritter, a tom yum broth with chilies, lemongrass, ginger and coconut milk, or salmon three ways: cured, poached and smoked with wasabi mayonnaise and cucumber. Mains are equally inviting and reflect the availability of seasonal produce, so each visit offers the possibility of new discoveries. The pan-seared duck breast with boulangere potatoes, saffron, turnips, honey crisp and date jus melts in your mouth. Delicious desserts include a tangy lemon tart with crème fraiche, lime sherbet and apple crumble. Service is discreet, prompt and attentive. With exquisite presentation and very generous portion sizes, a visit to the Madliena Lodge is a must.
