Hammett’s Gastro Bar is set in a prime location along the Sliema seafront facing the striking views of Marsamxett Harbour. The décor is modern and sophisticated with lashings of class, synonymous with Chris Hammett’s (Multi-award winning restaurateur) brand of establishment. It is a great spot for a lunch, dinner, weekend brunch or simply pop in for a happy hour drink and a ‘bar bite’. They don’t take reservations so it’s first come, first served though you’re welcome to enjoy a cocktail from their very creative selection in the bar area while you wait. Staff is vibrant, engaging and extremely knowledgeable about guiding you towards the perfect selection.
The seasonal menu brings together innovative interpretations of sharing plates with a variety of culinary influences using fresh local produce where possible and each dish is formed with classic ingredients combined with imaginative and upscale cooking techniques. They believe variety is the spice of life here so plates are smaller in size and designed to be shared. Try the chicken croquettes with spicy gochujang salsa or the calamarata calamari with preserved orange, coriander, black olives, tomato sauce and chilli to start. Move onto the duck breast with stir-fried vegetables, mango, peanuts, soy and maple syrup. The 24hr cooked pork belly with kimchi, lettuce wraps, pickled, vegetables, soy and maple dipping sauce are fun and perfect for sharing. Finish off with a PB & J, a peanut butter cheesecake with candied peanuts, banana brulee and raspberry jelly.
