This Gozo restaurant has been feeding diners in Marsalforn’s Menqa harbour area since 1986. The restaurant is on the first floor at the end of the harbour promenade, and recent renovations have introduced huge wrap around windows which make the most of the enviable two-sided sea views. The layout includes a small private dining space, a tasteful indoor area, and a large terrace, which thanks to clever retractable ceilings and vertically sliding glass, is shaded for summer lunches, open air for summer evenings, and fully enclosed in winter. The result is a practical and stylish space popular with both couples and family groups.
The harbour position has traditionally allowed the restaurant owners to deal daily with local fishermen. So it is no surprise that whilst including pasta and risotto choices and meat options such as ribeye steak, duck, spare ribs and chicken roulade, the menu is largely focused on fish dishes. Recipes are either traditional or Italian influenced, so in addition to whole fish and carpaccio options, you’ll find fritto misto, squid ink linguine, octopus stew and the speciality seafood spaghetti. If you can’t decide, a selection of mixed platter options are perfect for nibbling or sharing. Portion sizes are overly generous, so do pace yourself if you want to leave room for one of the large number of dessert options, all of which are handmade in-house, including the ice-creams.
