Looking at Valletta from across Marsamxett harbour, The Chophouse boasts one of the best views in Malta, often described as one of the finest views of Europe. Close to the water’s edge at historical Tigne Point, one feels as if one is sitting on a beautiful cruise liner watching boats sail by. The atmosphere is sophisticated without being too formal. It is smart, but not stifling, and the indoor/outdoor terraces provide a refreshing venue from which to treat yourself to a thoroughly delectable dining experience.
The Chophouse menu includes the celebrated Japanese Wagyu and Kobe beef along with Aberdeen Angus, Scottona beef from northern Italy, and other fine cuts. A state of the art aging cabinet helps to render the beef cuts even more tender and intense in flavour. Start with the trio of bone marrow or the sweet and sticky pork belly, or opt for a lighter dish like a sublime saffron and rosemary risotto or a seabass ceviche. There’s also the slow-cooked ox tongue with a pea and wasabi puree, and the deboned quail and wild mushroom fricassee. Finish off with the melt in your mouth chocolate fondant. With over 200 wines to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice. The Chophouse also boasts an extensive selection of fine whiskies, grappas and plantation rums. Private functions including stand up receptions and weddings are catered for.
