From the moment you walk through the imposing double doors of Taro at The Villa, the experience is designed to provide the ultimate in Maltese gastronomic excellence. With an award-winning kitchen brigade and professional service team, Taro offers daily changes to its à la carte menu making the most out of the freshest ingredients the Mediterranean has to offer. The attention to detail spans all parts of the restaurant including the tableware which has been hand-crafted by local ceramist, Sue Mifsud, specifically for Taro at The Villa. The impressive terrace is the ideal location for summer evening dining, overlooking the impressive Balluta Bay.
Taro selects superior quality ingredients and blends them to create master dishes with exquisite presentation. The menu is finely curated and specialises in high quality, dry-aged meats and fresh fish. Dishes include scallop shabu shabu with smoked eel parfait and bonito broth or vadouvan rabbit cappelletti with lemon verbena and pine pesto as fine starters. For your main course, try the suckling local pork with taro, wild fennel and pollen, or the mouth-watering halibut fillet with local cuttlefish and butternut squash. Desserts are delicate and complement the rest of the menu. Try the 35% Azelia chocolate with IGP hazelnuts and Tahiti vanilla anglaise, or local goat’s cheese with Gozitan honey, peaches and 10-year-old balsamico. An excellent wine list will provide the perfect accompaniment to your meal.
