By the sea dining, bordering the tiny stretch of sandy beach “bathed by the setting sun”, “charming bay views from a hidden corner of Xlendi”, “a sheltered restaurant visible only from the water”. These descriptions could easily be mistaken for a film location. In reality they describe Ta’ Karolina. Named after a local lady, this establishment serving Mediterranean cuisine is regularly frequented by local clientele.
The menu is varied and covers a wide range of popular dishes including soups, pasta, meat and fish and pizza as well as daily specials. There are a selection of sharing platters for two. Start with the prawn bisque or fresh steamed mussels pan tossed in garlic, fresh cherry tomatoes, white wine, basil and a hint of lemon juice or the homemadde pasta like simple ravioli with Gozo cheese filling and napolitana sauce.
