Drift Meze & Cafe has a wonderful laid-back atmosphere and neighbourhood location which is complemented by its swift, friendly, knowledgeable staff and menu variety. Whether you’re craving a cup of coffee, nibbles with friends, a night out, or dinner with the family, Drift has the versatility to accommodate it. Outdoor seating is ample and covered, while inside portrays a sense of nautical elegance with touches of wavelike textures and blue-tones. Live plants, large windows and spread-out tables accentuate the space, allowing diners to feel uncrowded and relaxed. Co-owner Alex Scudamore previously ran a restaurant in St. Julian’s for 30 years and it’s safe to say he knows what he’s doing.
The meze are perfect for sharing, especially because you’ll want to taste more than one. Try the unique ‘saganaki’ (fried feta cheese) or a trio of mixed dips like taramasalata (smoked cod roe dip), ‘skorthalia’ (garlic dip) and hummus (chickpea and sesame dip) to start. They also offer a variety of salads, two of which are vegetarian, including the halloumi salad with halloumi cheese, grilled vegetables, rucola and a yogurt and coriander dressing. For mains they offer plates such as beef or chicken kebabs served with rice or chips and salad, and the popular Drift burger with lettuce, tomato, caramelised onions and fried potatoes. Keep in mind there is also an impressive daily specials board, homemade desserts and a particular brand of wine exclusive to Drift.
