Café Jubilee is a great bistro that’s been operating in Valletta since 2000. The moment you step inside you’re transported into the Bohemian epoch with an extravaganza of vintage memorabilia and framed posters cladding every section of the walls and white marble-top tables set beneath Parisian style subdued lighting all intended to appeal to the senses of taste and touch. A well-stocked Florentine seated bar with beer on tap dominates the centre of the café. Indeed Café Jubilee delivers on all fronts whether eating alone or with friends. There’s a tiny terrace for outdoor eating and service is swift and friendly.
Café Jubilee provides freshly brewed coffee from early morning together with an assortment of fresh croissants, bagels and toasts plus a traditional English breakfast. For lunch enjoy a fresh baguette with grilled steak and double cheese or the croque madame of thick crusty bread with layers of smoked ham, Gruyere cheese topped with mustard, cheese sauce and a free range egg. Heartier dishes include meat filled tortellini tossed with rucola, cherry tomatoes, mascarpone cheese or a creamy gorgonzola and mushroom sauce. There’s also a selection of dishes from around the world including a spicy Japanese pork ramen soup and the North African lamb tagine served with couscous, roasted pistachios and coriander. There are also burgers and platters to share. Desserts are fresh and homemade. There’s also an extensive selection of wine and spirits available if you’re just popping in for an after work drink.
