Barbajean is a chic space in the heart of the quaint village of Ħad-Dingli in Malta. Barbajean, is a restaurant where young chef-patron Jean Pierre Dingli serves a Mediterranean-inspired modern menu and cocktails within its cool art deco walls.
This new venue aims to bring a little magic into one’s everyday life, driven to deliver a unique and memorable experience to everyone who steps foot into this restaurant. “Good food is at the forefront of what I do as a chef,” says the chef-patron. “We care about the ways in which we source it and we care about how we prepare and serve it. We are here for the people who care; the people who want to spend their money in a business that has a conscience and who appreciate good food. People who believe, like us, that doing good things with love and passion is the only way to run a good restaurant. We’re here for all the first dates, business meetings, and overdue catch-ups with friends”.
“We make the most of seasonal herbs, fruits and veg – everything we serve is inspired by what’s available locally and whatever I would want to eat myself if I went out to eat”, explains Jean Pierre when talking about the dishes served at Barbajean. The menu is made up of smaller and larger dishes that work equally well as sharing plates or individual starters or mains. There is an equal mix of meat and fish and pasta dishes alongside vegetarian options too, as well as an enticing selection of homemade desserts. The menu might be small but there is a variety to suit everyone’s taste.
