Prominently located in a lovingly restored, early eighteenth century villa at the tip of Balluta Bay, Barracuda is one of Malta’s longest established fine-dining restaurants. Finely polished glass and silverware twinkle in the soft lighting as you weave through the classic décor towards your table. Outside seating on one of its terraces which is literally metres above the water, is also available. It’s a picture perfect restaurant for a romantic occasion, entertaining special guests, or for holidaymakers wanting something more exclusive. Complimentary parking (three hours) is a short distance away at Le Méridien hotel, and makes for a lovely stroll along the promenade from the direction of St Julian’s/Sliema.
At Barracuda each dish contains only the freshest ingredients. Seafood is the main feature with fresh fish and shellfish perfectly cooked and presented. You may also try their platter: the chef’s selection of cooked and raw fish and seafood delicacies. Mains include milk fed veal tenderloin sauteed in brown butter and served with truffle hollandaise or the chef’s signature bouillabaisse which is a must have. The lavender infused crème brûlée is as delightful as can be expected and the perfect way to complete your meal. The wine list is definitely worthy of contemplative meditation; a cellar of local, European and new world wines, as well as a selection of champagnes, are available.
